OSU men featured in latest calendar
"The women of OSU are in for a treat," said Sean Ashbrook, coordinator of College Images, Ltd.
College Images, Ltd. presents the "Images: Men of OSU" calendar, which will be available in September.
Thirteen students, selected from over 200 applicants, will be paired month by month in the 1989 calendar.
All members of College Image, Ltd. are students at Ohio State, Ashbrook said.
"I am a member of the Entrepreneur Club, and we (members of the club) were interested in starting our own company," said Ashbrook, a junior from Akron majoring in business. "We saw other diluted markets, but we didn't see a calendar."
With personal funds, loans and support from other financial investors, Ashbrook was able to raise the amount needed for initial production.
Pictures of the applicants were circulated on campus and rated by women ages 18 to 40, "to get a good grasp of what women liked."
The entrants whose photographs received the highest ratings were called in for an interview and preliminary photo shoots, said Ashbrook.
The men in the calendar will have a say in which shot will be used in the final version, Ashbrook said, and each will be accompanied by a short biography of the model.
Although the final photos will be more tame," Ashbrook said. "The business end has been taken care of."
Simpson Graphics will print 5,000 calendars, which will be sold in bookstores for $6.95.
