We involve you in the planning of your photo and do not simply tell you how to pose or what to wear.
We work with you to learn your opinions, and then use your opinions when planning your final shoot. This helps guys get comfortable with photography.
No Beach Themes!
Sometimes when people think of calendars, they think of photos on a beach. We do not want "beach shots." Girls buy our calendars because you are a good-looking campus guy, so we think your photo should somehow involve college life. Campus Men's theme for photos involves a "college feel" ...a fun or youthful theme. So, we try to plan a college theme or sports theme for each guy.
Theme: College Themes or Athletics
You choose how to pose, but we prefer to portray each student as a sexy college student or a sexy athlete. We do this by including props, clothing and backgrounds that bring college to mind. This may mean photographing a student in a dorm, frat or apartment.
For example, let's say a student played LaCrosse in high school. We may want to photograph that student as a sexy lacrosse player. That student may have access to props and equipment or a location where we can hold the shoot. So, it works out well for everyone if we match the theme of his photo to the student's personality.
What Makes You Special?
You can help by asking yourself what makes you special? Often guys forget about traits they have that could help us generate ideas for photos. Fill out your profile as much as possible, We review your profile and consult with you on ideas for photos.
A former hockey goalie should tell us about his sports experience. We might plan a photo around a hockey theme...
Q: How Can I Help the Production?
A: If you have ideas for a theme for your photo, tell us. Sometimes students volunteer to help obtain props or locations for their own photos shoot. In this case, students might help us locate a prop for their photo shoot (like a basketball or socks).
Text Message Ideas to Our Photographer
Essential to producing an excellent photo is having good communication between a photographer and a model. There should be an open forum where all ideas are welcome. Feel free to send a text message the photographer if you have a spontaneous idea for a photo. Discussion of ideas is always welcome. How should your body be posed, what props should be included, at what location should the scene take place, and what should you be doing in the photo to portray an athletic or collegiate theme?
Some Photos Unplanned
We plan themes in advance, but our photographer cannot show you exactly what your final photo will look like before it is created.
Ironically, often capture great photos simply by "winging it." For example, we might spend weeks planning a shoot, gathering props, planning angles and poses. Then after the shoot, we shoot a few extra photos to finish off the roll. Ironically, sometimes those unplanned photos end up being the best!
Sports Locations
We are always always on the lookout for locker rooms, athletic playing fields that allow privacy in which to shoot. These are difficult to find because there are always someone in a locker room changing at any hour of the day. You can suggest any locations in which to hold your shoot.
