OSU Pinup Calendar Has Photos Mom Can Love, But Not Display
Student from Louisville featured nude on cover; pictures taken in Florida
Brent Mathie of Louisville in Stark County is on the cover of the 1992 Campus Men® in Key West, a pinup calendar featuring male Ohio State University students. Mathie, 21, is the youngest of Ed and Jane Mathie's eight children. He's a third-year student majoring in nutrition. And, in the Key West at sunrise cover photo, he is naked.
"I never took pictures of him like that when he was a baby," his mother told Beacon Journal correspondent Betty O'Neill-Roderick.
Mrs. Mathie said the calendar photos are tastefully posed and that she has a keepsake copy but probably won't display it.
Sean Ashbrook, creator and publisher of the calendar, flew Brent and his fellow students to Florida for a week long photo session just before classes resumed this fall.
Ashford also produced the 1991 Women of the Scarlet & Gray, which featured Marla Sokol of Akron, on the back cover and Danielle Shinaberry of Canton inside, and the 1991 Men of the Scarlet & Gray, which featured Tom Gairing of Wadsworth.
I tried to call Ashford to ask whether we could look for a 1992 Campus Women in Key West, but his number in Columbus, "has been temporarily disconnected," a computer-generated telephone voice reported.
Mrs. Mathie said the calendar sells for $10 at Waldenbooks stores.
