A photo crew and male models were walking around Key West, searching for backgrounds for shoots. When they spotted a huge rusty chain near a marina, they thought it would make a great prop for a photo. The iron chain was unusual because it had huge links that each weighed 5 pounds.
The chain had previously been used to attach an anchor to a boat and was now part of a fence at a parking lot.
The photographer wanted Doug, a male model, to pose nude and hold the rusty chain to cover his crotch. Since, the chain was too heavy to be moved to a private location, the crew decided to hold the shoot right there at the parking lot.
Doug changed into black briefs, which he would take off once the crew finished setting up.
When the shoot was ready to begin, a family with kids arrived at the parking lot for a boat tour. So, the crew had to wait for them to leave. However, more and more people arrived.
Frustrated, the photographer grabbed some medical tape and scissors from a supply box and cut the briefs off Doug and used the medical tape to tape half the briefs to Doug's bare butt cheeks. This prevented bystanders from seeing Doug's bare butt. The photo crew could proceed with the shoot.
Only his butt needed to be covered because it faced people walking behind him.
However, the shoot took place on a humid day, typical of the Florida Keys. Doug began sweating, which caused the medical tape come loose from his skin repeatedly. The fabric would blow in the wind. An assistant had to re-attach the fabric to Doug's butt throughout the shoot.
Even with these minor obstacles, it was possible to capture an exciting semi-nude shot on a public street!
